Manchester by the Sea…

Marjorie J. (Fraser) Carr, age 80 of Newport Park, Manchester by the Sea, formerly of Salem and Marblehead, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 following a brief illness. She was the former wife of the late Felix P. Carr.

Born and raised in Salem, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Margaret (Laverty) Fraser, she was educated in Salem schools. Following her graduation from Salem High School she married at the age of 18, began her family and enjoyed being a mom involved in her children's lives. As her children grew and had families of their own she took great pride and pleasure in also being a grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed being outdoors bicycling and taking walks.

Active and faithful to the Catholic Church, Mrs. Carr attended Sacred Heart Church in Manchester by the Sea and St. Mary's in Beverly. After her children were grown, she attended Salem State College, received an associate's degree in business, and enjoyed a ten-year career with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Mrs. Carr is survived by eight children, Phil Carr of Marblehead, Greg Carr of Hamilton, Gary Carr of Malibu, CA, Brian Carr of Peabody, Robert Carr of Marblehead, Deborah Carr of Philadelphia, PA and Brenda and Marjorie Carr of California; two sisters Dolores Coleman of New York and Jeanette Ryan of Connecticut, a brother Alfred Fraser of Salem, and a sister-in-law Jennie Laverty of Salem, wife of the late Francis Laverty; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
