Obituary

Marilyn L. (MacPherson) Dubiel, affectionately known as "Sis" to her family, age 87, wife of the late Frederick F. Dubiel, died Tuesday evening, November 2, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late William Parker and Anna (Daniels) MacPherson.  She was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1952.

Marilyn started her working career in Sylvania at the Boston Street Plant.  That is where she met her husband while working together.  They were engaged at the Salem Willows and had celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Marilyn returned to work at Salem High School following the birth of her second son, where she had worked as a hall monitor.  She concluded her 27-year career at the school as a paraprofessional in the Special Education Department in 1992.

Marilyn enjoyed gardening and loved to cook for everyone.  She was a sun worshiper, going to Dane Street Beach and Forest River Park when her children were young.   One of her favorite things to do was host the Christmas Eve gathering at her home.  She was also involved with the Salem High School Boosters while her children were attending.  Most especially, she loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a steadfast caregiver to her husband before his passing.

Surviving her are her sons, Mark and his wife Susan Dubiel of Peabody, Jeff and his wife Kristine Dubiel of Groveland, Freddie and his wife Laura Dubiel of Swampscott and daughter, Ann Hudson and her husband Randy of Nahant; grandchildren Rachel, Allie, Cameron, Maeve, Caden, Dylan, Maddie and Grace; great-grandchildren Rhea, Jace and Michael; her brother Melbourne MacPherson and wife Francis; cousins Dorothy Mezakowski and Donna Lane as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her dear sister, Arlene O'Neill-Capen.
