Marie-Therese Brass, aged 87, passed away of natural causes in the early morning hours of Thursday April 15, 2021. She was in the care of the wonderful staff at Kula Hospital on the Hawaiian island of Maui. Better known as Lily, she was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt to Albert B. and Despina J., both of whom were practicing lawyers at the time. Lily was fluent in French, Arabic, English and German, loved the arts, supported the Cairo Opera House and managed a full department store while living in Egypt. Thereafter, she moved to Germany with her husband Otto and then emigrated to the US in 1970, living in North Carolina, Michigan and California before settling in the North Shore area for 28 years. In 2012, she relocated to Maui to be closer to her son, daughter-in-law and the birth of her first grandchild.

Through the years, Lily worked as a bilingual aide for students learning English as a second language as well as spending many years in jewelry sales and obtaining her Diamond Gemologist certification. She was a devoted wife and doting mother. She loved to knit and needlepoint and found a passion for yoga and ayurvedic living in her later years. She will be remembered for her sharp wit and style, her sincerity and the many lifelong friendships she leaves behind.

Lily is survived by her son, Martin, her daughter-in-law, Veronica and her two grand-children Bianca and Astrid. She is also survived by her youngest brother, Claude Barazin of Montreal, Canada. She is predeceased by her husband Otto who passed away in 1989 and her three older brothers Roger, Gilbert and Camille.

A viewing will be held at Murphy Funeral Home, April 26 from 4-6PM. COVID precautions will be observed. A funeral mass and burial will be held at 10AM Tuesday morning at St. Mary's of the Annunciation Church in Danvers, MA.
