Gormalley
September 12, 1925 – January 12, 2023
Marie D. Gormalley passed away peacefully at the age of 97, surrounded by family on January 12, 2023, after a period of declining health. Marie was born September 12, 1925, to Norbert Dooling and Helen (Madge) Maloney in Philadelphia, PA. She grew up in Havertown, PA, the oldest of 6 children, graduating from Notre Dame High School in Havertown in 1943. As a young woman, she worked as a bank bookkeeper until meeting her first husband, Hector "Cy" Sicotte during a fateful late dinner seating on an ocean cruise. She moved to Salem, MA, where they raised 3 children. After Cy's death, she married Frank Gormalley, with whom she shared 11 years of marriage until his passing.
She worked a variety of jobs and for many years was an office manager for Backer Loring Corp in Peabody. Marie enjoyed many activities including travel, exercise classes at the YMCA and Brooksby Village, where she later resided. She was always eager for a game of Bingo. Her many volunteer activities included My Brother's Table and St Vincent de Paul. Her most cherished times were spent with family and friends, where she was always the life of the party.
She is survived by her 3 children, Linda (Richard) Osborne of Hampton, NH, David (Liz) Sicotte of Escondido, CA, Dr. Nancy Sicotte (Jim Dodenhoff) of Culver City, CA, her 5 grandchildren, Dr. Kristen (Ryan Stack), Julia, and Carolyn Dodenhoff, Kaitlyn Osborne, Logan Sicotte and one great granddaughter, Blair Stack. Her sister Madeline Lyons of Carlisle, PA and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or to the Brooksby Village Benevolent Care Fund.
