Salem – Marie F. Dube, aged 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 19, 2019. Born in Salem in 1930 to John E. O'Leary and Laura (Dubois) O'Leary, Marie lived in Salem during her formative years, and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1948.

After graduating Marie worked at B. E. Cox Leather as a secretary. In 1954 Marie met and married the love of her life, Rene P. Dube, who was five years her senior. Eventually Marie left her job at Cox Leather, and went to work as the head clerk in the school department in Salem until her retirement, at least 25 years later.

Marie was a devout catholic, and was a parishioner at St. James parish in Salem her entire life. When not raising her children or working, Marie loved to knit, cook wonderful meals for her family, play bingo, and visit Foxwoods to play slots. After Rene died in 1987 Marie ended up getting together every Wednesday night with a group of other widows to take turns fixing dinner.

Marie is survived by her daughter Joanne Raby & her husband Stephen of Salem, MA; her daughter Judith Dube of Lexington, KY; her son Kenneth Dube & his wife Monica of Billerica, MA; her son David Dube & his wife Robin of Peabody, MA; her grandchildren, Stephanie Raby of Rowley, MA; Capt. Mark Dube of Raleigh, NC; Courtney Dube of Dorchester, MA; Devin Dube of Salem, MA and Taylor Dube of Peabody, MA; along with many nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her loving husband Rene Dube, and her siblings Edmund O'Leary, Thomas O'Leary, William O'Leary, James O'Leary, and Dorothy (O'Leary) Flynn.

Visiting hours will take place on Friday August 23, 2019 from 9 AM to 11 AM at the Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place following the visiting hours at 11 AM at the Murphy Funeral Home.
