Mariam "Mary" (Peleghian) Kazandjian, age 93, wife of the late Dickran Kazandjian died Thursday afternoon in the Armenian Nursing Home, Jamaica Plain following a long illness.
Born in Buckarest, Rumania she raised and educate in Rumania. Following her education she and her late husband married and began a family. In 1962 the emigrated to Lebanon for a year and then moved to the United States residing in both Salem and Peabody before settling in Lynn in 1964.
Mrs. Kazandjian was employed by the Benson Shoe Company in Lynn for several years until her retirement.
Appreciated of the assistance she and her family received when the moved to the United States she remained active in the Armenian Relief society and helped many newcomers when they cam to the United States. Attentive to the need of her family she also spent a great deal of time knitting hats and mittens for needy children.
Mrs. Kazandjian is survived by two children Agavni Julie Kuyumjian and her husband Nishan Kuyumjian of Lynn with whom she had resided and Gregory Kazandjian D.D.S and his wife Madeline of Westbury, NY; four grandchildren United States Air Force Lieutenant Dickran Kazandjian, MD, Vartan Kazandjian Esquire, Shushan Kuyumjian and Roupen J. Kuyumjian.
Her funeral will be held on Monday at 11:00A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St.(cor of North St). Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 6 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem .
