Obituary

Peabody, Maria Zelinda (DaSilva) Silva, age 78, passed away on August 3, 2022.  She was born in Graciosa Azores, the daughter of the late Antero Augusto and Vitalina Rosa Isabell DaSilva.  Maria was employed for many years that lead to retirement from Fishery Products.  She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, singing, cooking for her family especially her grandchildren and she loved gardening, her flowers and writing poems.

Surviving her are four children, Rita Hernandez and her husband Wilbert from Lorain, Ohio, Michael John Silva from Graciosa Azores, Diana Magalhaes and her husband Bruno from Fall River, Leslie Cunha and her husband Richard from N. Billerica.  She is grandmother of 14, Derek, Brian, Joshua, Bianca, Isaiah, Jennifer, Decio, Jessica, Jermaine, Keith, Krystal, Katrina, Cameron and Anthony, great grandmother of 21 and aunt to many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her daughter Rosa Jacob formerly of Fall River and sister of the late Manuel Augusto DaSilva.

Maria's Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, one Margin Street, Peabody on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.  Please join the family at church for the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial.  Visiting hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 4p.m. to 8p.m.  Masks are required inside the building.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
