Mrs. Maria Isabela Jorge, 93, of Salem passed away Thursday, January 29th, 2009 at NSMC - Salem Hospital. She was the widow of Francisco Jorge. Maria was born in Pico, Azores , the daughter of the late Jose J. and Maria I Goulart.

Maria moved to Yonkers , NY in 1967. She was a stay at home mom. who loved cooking, gardening, and family get togethers. She especially love the time she got to spend with her grandchildren. Her greatest pleasures were traveling back and forth from the North shore to the Azores with her husband after his retirement.

Maria is survived by her children Esther G. Mendonca and her husband Antonio of Salem, Alberto G. Jorge and his wife Filomena of Yonkers, NY, Americo G. Jorge and his wife Maria of Palm Bay, FL, and Alda J. Vieira and her husband Fernando of Boca Raton, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christina, Rose Mary, Anabela, Neil, and Betsy as a well as 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Maria was predeceased by her brothers Jose Goulart and Manuel Goulart

Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody, MA 01960. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 - 6 P.M. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
