Maria Ginnetti, age 89, passed away in the early morning of Saturday, March 13, 2021. She was living in the care of her loving and devoted daughter Anna Ginnetti-Ricci in Salem. She was born in Prezza, Italy and was a long time resident of the North End of Boston. She was the daughter of the late Angelamaria Spadorcia and Domenico Navarroli. She was married to the late Pelino Ginnetti and immigrated to Boston with her family and worked several jobs throughout her life including the Cafeteria at the North Bennett Industrial school, the Cafeteria at St. Anthony's school, and Donna Dean Chocolate factory where she met her best friend the late Giovanna (Jenny) DelGizzi. In her later years she worked for the North End Community Health Center and was the most requested caretaker in her position and was recognized for her dedicated quality care to the frail and homebound elders of Boston's North End. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and her family was everything to her. She was always working, cooking up amazing dishes and sweets and taking care of others. She was a devoted Catholic and a woman of very deep faith. She is survived by her sister Margherita Rante of France, her loving and devoted children, Cesidio Ginnetti and his wife Emily Ginnetti of Saugus, Angela Birtwell and her husband Paul Birtwell of Tampa, and Anna Ginnetti-Ricci of Salem. She is survived by her many grandchildren Giovanna Ricci, Luciano Ricci and Alandra Ricci, Thomas Birtwell, Alexandra Birtwell and Isabella Birtwell, Steve Michaels, Keith Michaels, and Kayla Ginnetti and her great grandchildren Evelyn Gilman and Mercedes Michaels. She is survived by loving cousins Vanda Cicerone, Fernando Terone, nieces and nephew, Domenico Rante, Maria Christina Rante, and Liliana Rante, The family takes great comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her loved ones who have passed before her. Her late uncles and aunts Antonio Navarroli, Carmine Navarroli, Nunziate Terone, and Minucia Navarroli and late cousins Anita Fezzuglio, and Cesera Mancini.
Due to COVID-19, and to ensure everyone's safety, social-distancing and masks are required. We will save the hugs and hand bumps for when we can safely reunite post-pandemic. Due to COVID, Viewing will be private and limited to immediate family members, family and friends are welcome to attend Funeral mass and burial to be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Leonard's Church located at 320 Hanover Street, Boston (North End) immediately followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery located at 226 North Street, Salem, MA.
