Peabody, MA – Maria Bettencourt, age 89, passed away at Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Danvers on Sunday March 12, 2017.  Daughter of the late Bartolomeu and Maria Silva and widow of the late Joseph Bettencourt, Maria was born and raised in the Azores where she met her husband Joseph and began her family, before immigrating to the United States.  Maria settled in Peabody, MA where she would live for over 50 years.  In that time she was a homemaker and worked briefly in the Shoe Business.  Maria was a devoted and loving wife and mother who loved to cook for her family and will be dearly missed.

Maria is survived by her daughter Teresina Bettencourt of Lynn, MA, her son Antonio Bettencourt and his wife Connie of Peabody, MA, her son Henry Bettencourt of Lynn, MA as well as her grandchildren Tayna, Tony Jr. and Jonathan, and her great granddaughter Kayla.

Visiting hours for Maria will take place on Thursday March 16, 2017 from 5 to 7PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North St.) Salem, MA 01970.
