Margarita M. ( Walsh) White, wife of Richard J. White of Salem died Wednesday evening, May 9, 2012 in Danvers, MA.
Born in County Offaly Ireland, the daughter of the late John and Eileen (Kinsella) Walsh, she was raised in County Offaly and attended local schools. She trained as a Registered Nurse in Dublin, Ireland and worked as a midwife in England before coming to the United States.
Where she then met and married her husband of 48 years. Ita continued to work in various hospitals and then retired from the dialysis unit at Beverly Hospital after 26 years. She was always a devoted and generous wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. Her family was her life. She was fondly loved and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. White is survived by two sons, James White and his wife Debra of Suffolk, VA and Daniel White and his wife Annette of Rowley; two daughters, Shelagh Amann and her husband Scott of Hartsdale, NY and Elizabeth Hegarty and her husband Joseph of Salem and five grandchildren, Olivia, Brian, Joseph, Molly and Jack; a brother Sean Walsh of County Offaly Ireland; four sisters Marie Gath of County Offaly, Ireland, Nuala Scott of Edinburgh, Scotland, Eileen Gleeson of County Offaly, Ireland and Kathleen Lynch of Holbrook, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter Rosemary White and two brothers Paddy Walsh and Leo Walsh.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 1:30 PM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 2:00 PM in St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem. Visitation will be prior to the funeral on Saturday from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hogan Regional Center, P.O. Box A, 450, Maple St., Hathorne, MA 01937.
