Margaret (Graves) Mavroules, age 84, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 at the NSMC Salem Hospital, after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.  She was always known for her soft and gentle ways and always helping others.

She was born and raised in Salem, daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (McMahon) Graves.  Margaret was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1950.  She started her working career at Sylvania.  Through her life she was employed with North Shore Children's Hospital and had also worked for the Peabody Public School Cafeteria while her children were young, and in her elder years she worked in retail. She was always a positive influence on others and while living on Harris Street in Peabody, she was known as the "Harris Street Mom" to the neighborhood children. She also was a Cub Scout Den Leader having weekly meetings for her son and young boys in her kitchen.  She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends and most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved the Salem Willows and the simple things in life.  She will always be remembered for her jovial laugh, beautiful smile and sense of humor, and around the Holidays for her blueberry cheese cake bomb.

Surviving her are her children, Rebecca (Mavroules) Jones of Kingston, NH, Pamela Mavroules of Peabody and Mitchell Mavroules of Lynn, her grandchildren, Christopher Hagen, Jason and Jill Re, Melissa Re, Nicole (Mavroules) Ryan and her husband Michael, Alycia Hagen, Timothy Mavroules, James Page and Stephen Mavroules, her great grandchildren, Julianna, Gracie, Nickolas, Tanjelah, Wyatt, Quentin and Kaelyn, her godchild Sophia (Mavroules) Henry, and many cousins and friends throughout New England, Florida, and Germany. She was the mother-in-law of the late Byron "Buck" Jones and former wife of the late Charles Mavroules.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (corner of North St) Salem from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home following the visiting hours at 7:00 P.M.
