Obituary
Margaret H. "Meg" (Howat) MacDonald age 54 loving wife for 19 years of Russell MacDonald of Salem died Saturday July 28th surrounded by her family after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers.
She was born in Cambridge, MA the daughter of William and Janet (Beechey) Howat now of Beverly.
Mrs. MacDonald graduated from Westfield State College in the Class of 1975 and received her Master's Degree from Cambridge College. Meg loved teaching and had taught for 20 years in Rockport Public Schools, most recently as a kindergarten teacher. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by two sons Matthew Merritt of Boston and Douglas Merritt of Portland, Oregon, a brother bill Howat of Bloomington, Indiana and her beloved Boston Terrier, "Brutus".
Memorial services will be held Wed at 11:00A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of rte114, exit 25A from rte 128) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Tues from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, Ma 01923.
