IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Margaret C.
Duggan
February 23, 1934 – July 9, 2023
Margaret Catherine (Flannery) Duggan "Peggy" passed peacefully on July 9, 2023, surrounded by close family. She was born on February 23, 1934, in Winthrop, MA the youngest of five children to Joseph Flannery and Margaret McDonald.
She spent her final two and half years living with her daughter Barbara Foot and her family in Winchester, MA.
Peggy was married to Daniel Joseph Duggan for 47 years before his passing in 2004. Together they lived predominantly in Marblehead raising their five children.
Once their children were grown, Peggy traveled the world with Dan. Their trips included Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and Hawaii. She had the opportunity to ride in the co-pilot seat of a helicopter and enjoy coffee on a veranda overlooking a volcano.
What she enjoyed most was spending time with family and close friends. Her children and grandchildren cherish their memories of holiday trips to see theater shows in and around Boston and the annual summer 'Nana' vacations. The memories created on these trips will last a lifetime. She was always ready for late night swims, a dance on a sandbar and games around the kitchen table. No holiday was complete without a hot appetizer and a cold cocktail. As Peggy would say, it was the little things that made her happy.
She was a long-time member of the Corinthian Yacht Club where she was on the first all-women's race committee and liked to sit on the porch overlooking the harbor, for lunch and a nice glass of wine.
Peggy enjoyed an early morning swim at the YMCA, daily mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church and coffee with friends at Periwinkles or AJ King. She had strong political opinions and enjoyed spirited discussions about current events.
She is survived by her children and their significant others: Wayne and Joby Duggan of Portland, Oregon, Kathy Duggan and Cathy Nicastro of Gloucester, MA, Barbara and Jonathan Foot of Winchester MA, John and Julie Duggan of Marblehead, MA and Mary and Chris Litster of North Andover, MA; her sister Mary Carrieri of Winthrop, MA, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Eugene Flannery and her sister Isabelle Finn.
In addition, Peggy was the very proud grandmother of Sean and Jeremiah Duggan, Elizabeth, Maggie and Lucy Foot, Jack and Ryan Duggan, and Maxwell, Caleb and Oliver Litster.
