Margaret "Reita" (Carroll) Moore, age 89, of Salem, died Saturday, October 20, 2010 in the Masconomet Health Care, Topsfield. A longtime resident of Salem before her star in Topsfield, Reita was the wife of the late George Moore with whom she had shared over fifty years of marriage.
Daughter of the late John T. and Imelda M, (Nimblet) Carroll, Reita was a graduate of the Salem Schools. A longtime Communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, Reita was a former employee of Webbers in Salem and the former Shaughnessy Hospital. Reita and her late husband were very active in the Mass Chapter 1 Ex Prisoners of War and travelled to many places with the group making life long memories and friends. Reita loved Bingo, crosswords, baking, candy and anything Irish.
Reita is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Mary and Daniel Powers of Peabody and Carole Moore and Thomas Konevich of Topsfield. She leaves her beloved grandchildren Amy Powers Copp of Salem, Melissa and her husband John Patten of East Kingston, NH, Justin and his wife Cindy Powers of Peabody and Reilly E. and her husband David Glasser of Lynn. "G.G", as she is also known as, is also survived by seven great grandchildren, Jackson, Justin, and Jia Patten, Kali and Nicholas Copp and Justin Jr. and Jake Powers and her many wonderful caregivers and friends at Masconomet Health Care Center.
She was predeceased by five sisters Miriam Carroll, Imelda Cavanaugh, Elizabeth Tremblay, Joan Dawson and Eileen Peterson.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 9:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be TODAY, Monday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
