Methuen….

Margaret E. "Betty" (Day) Broderick, age 85, loving wife for 58 years of Donald W. Broderick of Methuen, formerly of Salem, died at home peacefully Tuesday afternoon.

Born in Salem the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Cassidy) Day, she was educated in Salem Schools. Following her graduation from Salem High School, Mrs. Broderick completed her Administrative Degree and was employed in the Administrative Staff of Salem Hospital (now North Shore Medical Center) for several years.

Once she and her husband married, family became the center of her life while still staying in touch with her special friends form "The Club". She loved caring for the needs for her husband and family. She made sure the family was comfortable with new friends as they the moved for her husband career originally to Syracuse, NY and later Trumbull, CT. More recently they have lived on the North Shore and enjoyed sailing aboard their boat out of the Salem Willows Yacht Club until last season.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Broderick is survived by four children Nancy and her husband Steven Mamis of Methuen, David Broderick of Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada, Mary Ellen Broderick of Albuquerque, NM and Richard Broderick of Guilford, CT; five grandchildren Donald and Sarah Mamis both of Methuen, MA and Danny, Tyler and Kelley Ann Broderick of Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday May 27, 2010 at 9:30 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral on Thursday morning form 8:00 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. in the Funeral Home.
