Maddie Castle Morash, age 72, wife of Allan C. Morash for 51 1/2 years died early Thursday morning in the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, following a long illness.
Born in Salem the daughter of the late Everett and Marion (Mace) Castle, she was raised and educated in Marblehead, graduating from Marblehead High School in the Class of 1955. Following her graduation, Maddie was employed by the Essex Trust Bank in Lynn as a teller, until marrying her husband, who was then serving in the United States Army, and moving to Virginia.
Four years later they began their family and Mrs. Morash was in her glory. A dedicated and loving stay at home mother, she was devoted to her children and later to her grandchildren as well as all of their friends. Immersed in their lives she was often seen at the children's activities including plays and baseball games. She loved Marblehead, the beaches, having lunch with her sisters and the family pets. She was a magnetic and compassionate person that will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Morash is survived by two children and four grandchildren, Mike Morash and his wife Patty and their children Meghan and Nikki of Portsmouth, NH and Lauri Dyer and her husband Ellery and their children Emily and Ethan of Topsfield; three sisters Iris Littlefield, Gage Maher, and Joy Lupo all of Salem and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers Donald, Everett and Jack Castle and two sisters Connie Hansen and Alice Madsen.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 12:30 P.M. in the Old North Church, 35 Washington St., Marblehead, MA 01945. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North ST) Salem. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
