Amesbury…..

Madalene A. (Viner) Russell, age 90, wife of the late Arthur L. Russell, Jr. of Amesbury, formerly of Salem, died early Wednesday morning in the Kaplan Family Hospice House.

Born in East Templeton, MA the daughter of the late Walter E. and Crystal (Phelps) Viner, Mrs. Russell attended local schools. Following her graduation from Fitchburg High School, Mrs. Russell received her Bachelor's Degree from Fitchburg State Teacher's College and taught school until marrying and beginning her family.

A dedicated wife and stay at home mom, she enjoyed her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. An athletic person at heart, she was active in both local bowling leagues as well as golfing at Wenham Country Club.

Mrs. Russell is survived by two children James W. Russell and his wife Joan of Moultonboro, NH and Barbara Danti and her husband Greg of Lynnfield, MA; four grandchildren Courtnay A. Bourleske and her husband Andrew, Thomas P. Russell of Amesbury, with whom she had resided, Christine M. Meola and her husband Stephen and Olivia M. Gates; two great grandchildren, Gabrielle R. and Gemma G. Meola.

She was predeceased by a son and daughter in law Lawrence A. and his wife Lauren G. Russell.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 24, 2010 at 1:00 PM in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be before the funeral from 12 Noon to 1:00PM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Salem.
