Salem……

Louise M (Flynn) Brennan, R.N., age 91, the loving wife of the late, retired, Salem Fire Chief, James F. "Buddy" Brennan died at her daughter's home in Missouri City, Texas surrounded by her loving family.

A lifelong resident of Salem, she was born, raised and educated in Salem the daughter of the late James and Louise (Casey) Flynn. Following her graduation from St. James High School, Mrs. Brennan attended the Salem Hospital School of Nursing.

Louise then began a lifelong career of caring for people in various settings such as being an Industrial Nurse at Sylvania Lighting on Loring Ave in Salem, an RN at Mt Pleasant Hospital in Lynn, a school nurse in Middleton, and continued her career doing private nursing until her retirement. Mrs. Brennan was active with the Salem Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and the Essex County Needle Point Guild.

A devoted mother, she is survived by five children, Michael Brennan and his wife Lesley of Sugar Land, TX, Sheila Hansen, C.R.N.A and her husband Reid Hansen, MD of Peoria, IL, Maureen Cormier, RN, MS and her husband Dennis Cormier of Missouri City, TX , James Brennan of Salem and Mary Strong of Salem; a sister Nancy Dolan of Amesbury; seven grandchildren, Julie Ward Brady of Beverly, Petty Officer Timothy Cormier, U.S.N, Christopher and Laura Cormier of Missouri City, TX, Bryan, Rachel and Benjamin Henderson, all of Salem.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Salem Firefighter Donald Flynn, James "Skimmy" Flynn, and William "Billy" Flynn.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the Mass at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor. of North St.) Salem, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
