IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorraine M
Haley
October 12, 1932 – February 28, 2017
Lorraine M. Haley, 84, passed away at home in Port St. John, Florida Tuesday, February 28 th 2017. She was born Lorraine Marie Currier on October 12 th , 1932 in Salem, Massachusetts and was the only child of Marie (Soucy) Currier and Harold "Pete" Currier. Lorraine's mother "set up housekeeping" and raised her as a single mother in Danvers and Salem.
She met her husband Jack "Jumbo" Haley in Salem where they started their family in the Mack Park neighborhood. Lorraine, Jack and their growing family moved to the Ryal Side neighborhood of Beverly where they loved, laughed, cooked and created a home that is still in the family, with her beautiful garden intact.
Lorraine was proud of her work at the Essex Aggie in Hathorne, MA and Endicott College in Beverly where she was recognized with an award for her dedication and support of the college upon her retirement in 1996. Lorraine travelled extensively visiting all fifty states. She spoke with great fondness of the friends she made everywhere she visited. In her late 70's she completed a four month RV trip with her friend "Motorcycle" Bob Arcouette from her home in Florida, through the U.S. and Canada and back, covering 16,000.
Lorraine enjoyed crocheting, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, good food and listening to music. Andy Williams, Mario Lanza, Rosemary Clooney and Louis Armstrong were among her favorites but she also liked Robert Plant, Boston and George Michael.
Lorraine is survived by daughter Marie Barry and her husband Bob of Port St John Florida, daughter Kathleen Holland of Beverly, son John Haley and his wife Kimberley of Beverly, grandchildren Erik Cole, Ryan Jackson, Haley Jackson, Katherine Haley and Jack Haley and great-grandchildren, Tyler Cole, Jake Cole, Jordan L'Abbe, Brooke Bradford, Julio Jackson and furry son Chewie.
Lorraine's family wishes to acknowledge and thank Ms. Sharon Francis for the gracious friendship and support she gave to our mother. Sharon provided the love of a family member when Lorraine's family wasn't able to be with her.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2000 and her daughter Marilyn in 2008.
A wake will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10 th at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem, MA. Burial is to be held privately. For additional information or online guestbook please visit www.MurphyFuneralHome.com or call 978-744-0497.
