Lloyd M. Havey, age 64 of Danvers died Friday afternoon in the in the Brigham and Women's Hospital Boston following a long illness.
Born, raised and educated in Pawtucket, RI the son of the late Martin and Ida M. (Tetrault) Havey, he received his Bachelor's Degree in English from Rhode Island College. Mr. Havey then joined the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Belknap providing air traffic control in Tonkin Bay, Viet Nam.
Following his discharge, Mr. Havey was employed by Hood Foam in Marblehead for a brief period until beginning a long career with Sylvania. He then became a driver for Garelick Farm until becoming ill and retiring.
A history buff and longtime member of the Vittori Rocci Post 56 in Beverly, Mr. Havey enjoyed watching television and movies.
He is survived by three children, Michael Havey of Marblehead, Steven Havey of Salem and Kathleen Havey of Danvers and a sister Irene Jones of Delray Beach, FL.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. St. Mary's Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers, MA. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00P.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
