IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Sue
Weinbaum
May 17, 1943 – January 8, 2025
Linda Sue Weinbaum passed away on January 8th, 2025, at age 81 after a lengthy illness. She was born on May 17th, 1943, and was raised in Newton, MA, by her late father, George Weinbaum and late mother, May Weinbaum. She spent her early years summering on Nantasket Beach's Strawberry Hill with many from her Newton neighborhood.
Linda was an artist, a graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art, whose medium was oil paint on stretched canvas, and her focus and strength was realistic portraits of people, venturing into superrealism and astral imagery in later years. Her works were recognized by local art associations and included national showings, representing Massachusetts in the 'Women's Sensibilities' national juried exhibition.
As a longtime resident of Salem MA, Linda was known around town as 'Magic Linda', one of Salem's oldest independent psychics. She was quick with her insight and wit and left many she encountered with a sense of all that is possible.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Orne, her grandson, Eli Orne, her nephew, Michael Shafran and niece, Debra Shafran, alongside her loving daughter-in-law Melissa Brand and Melissa's mother, Olivia Brand.
Visiting hours were held at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. Salem.
One of her favorite artists was Bob Dylan who wrote:
She got everything she needs, she's an artist,
she don't look back
