Marblehead……


Linda Dorney age 62 of Marblehead, died Saturday evening in Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness.


Born in Salem the daughter of the late Francis and Rosamond (Bartlett) Dorney she was raised and educated in Marblehead. Following her graduation from Marblehead High School in the Class of 1964, she became a secretary for the New England Merchants National Bank. Later she was employed by Old Colony Bank in Marblehead until joining the administrative staff of Hood Foam for 20 years. For the past 15 years she has been the Office Manager of Boston Harbor Import.


An avid reader, she was an award wining cross stitcher at the Topsfield Fair and was renowned for her knitting skills.


She is survived by a brother Peter Dorney and his life partner Kay Monahan of Marblehead, and many cousins including Janice Gamello and her husband Guy of Ghent, NY and their two children, nieces of Linda, Leah Gamello of Somerville and Karolyn Garafalo of Ghent NY, Judith Smith and her husband Al of Belmont, Gerald Hueter and husband Meim of Wakefield, James Riley of Belmont, Donald and Kathy Hamson of New Hampshire, Jody Gardner of Lynnfield and George Nelson of, Alabama; and uncle Roger Hamson of Lynnfield, and Larry Shutze of Swampscott a loving boss who was more like a father.


A gathering of relatives and friends will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St.(cor of North St) Salem. Interment services will be held on Friday at 1:30 P.M. in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead. Please meet at the Main gate of the cemetery at 1:15 P.M.
