Lillian Carmen Papalegis, age 92, former wife of Walter Peter Papalegis, passed away Sunday May 17, 2015 at Salem Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Stanislaw Tremblay and the late Marie Anne (Dionne) Tremblay. She was raised and educated in Salem.

Mrs. Papalegis and her former husband Walter co-owned Terry's Diner in Salem. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, orchids, and gardening. She was also a life-long avid Boston sports fan who had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. Her greatest pleasure in life was the love and company of her family. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving her are three sons, Walter Papalegis and his wife Deborah of Rockport, Todd Papalegis and his wife Margaret of Stratham, NH, Bruce Bedard of Danvers, and daughter Jeanne Duillea and her husband Robert of Niantic, CT. She is also survived by a brother Bruce Patnaude and his wife Valerie of Salem, one sister Lucille Blouin of Salem, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Lillian was predeceased by three brothers Raymond Tremblay, Claude Tremblay, Emile Tremblay and a great-grandchild.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 10:15 AM from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Anne's, 290 Jefferson Avenue, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
