Konstantina (Gedeon) Viglas, age 66, wife of Elefterios "Teddy" Viglas, died Saturday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a lengthy illness. Born in Gavalou, Messolongiou, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Vasilios and Maria (Koledini) Gedeon. She was raised and educated in Greece, where she learnt her skills as an accomplished seamstress. She met her husband Teddy and married on February 2, 1969. That same year, she came to the United States on May 3rd, settling in Salem where she made her life with her family.
Mrs. Viglas was employed with Star Sports Ware in Lynn for 15 years. She made London Fog Leather Jackets for the Company. She was a devout member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody and had been a member of the choir a few years ago. She was a very religious Christian woman who lived her faith by example and was a contributor to the Greek Church. She also enjoyed going home to Greece to visit family.
Surviving her in addition to her husband are her two children, Eleni Viglas - Likousas and her husband George of Boxford and Andrew Viglas of Salem, her 2 sisters and brother, Popi Arapatzis, Sperithoula Gedeon and Kostontinos Gedeon all of Greece, her grandson Niko Likousas of Boxford and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (Cor of North St) Salem on Thursday August 20, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody at 10:00 A.M. Visiting hours are Wednesday August 19, 2015 at the Murphy Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
