HAWKINS, Kenneth H., Age 87, of Salem and formerly of Peabody, MA, September 22, 2016.
Survived by his dear wife of 61 years Jacqueline (Bagge) Hawkins. Devoted father to sons Steven of Salem, MA, David and his wife Katherine of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Jeffrey and his wife Mary of Middleton, MA, and daughter Janice Lane and her husband John of Amesbury, MA. Pre-deceased by his brothers Virgil and Lawrence and sister Clara, he is survived by his brother John Hawkins of San Jose, CA. Beloved grandfather of Andrew, Aimee, Sean, Ryan and Adam.
Born on a dairy farm in Jefferson, OH, he was the son of the late Herbert and Clara (Garlow) Hawkins.
He attended college at Ohio State University where he studied engineering, then spent his entire professional life employed at General Electric in Lynn, MA in the Turbine and Generator division before retiring almost thirty years ago. For many years he was involved in the Boy Scouts and was an avid bridge player and a longtime member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. A service will be held at Puritan Lawn in Peabody at 11am on Wednesday, September 28. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kenneth's name may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
