SALEM, MA — Kathleen Connelly, passed away on Tuesday February 21st at Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born in Salem, MA, Kathleen was the daughter of the late John J. and Eleanor (Conners) Connelly. She graduated from St. James High School in Salem and graduated summa cum laude from Salem State College.
After graduation, Kathleen followed in the footsteps of her mother and older sisters to become a teacher. She taught at the Saint Pius V School in Lynn until her retirement.
Kathleen was very creative and enjoyed crafting, working with stained glass and sewing. Kathleen was quick-witted and mischievous. Her dry humor was understated and truly enjoyed by her family. Kathleen liked spending time with her many nieces and nephews. She was the "fun aunt", always ready with a craft or some little adventure or excursion.
Kathleen loved music and would play the piano for family sing-a-longs on holidays.
She was a devout Catholic and lived her faith with her generosity and love for her family and friends. She will be missed.
She is survived by her two brothers, John J. Connelly and his wife Pauline of Topsfield, Paul M. Connelly and his wife, Karen Roche of Beverly, her sister-in-law Phyllis Connelly of N. Reading, and many beloved nieces, nephews, Godchildren and cousins.
Kathleen was predeceased by her sisters Maureen Connelly, Brenda Connelly, Virginia Connelly and her brother Brian Connelly, all of Salem.
Visitation hours will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 9:30-11:30a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal Street, Salem, MA. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 11:30a.m. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Salem.
