Katherine T. Carroll, 95, passed away on Sunday July 25, 2021, at her home in Marblehead. Katherine was born in Brighton, MA to John and Mary (Ennis) Kinnier on May 16, 1926. She married Matthew F. Carroll, Jr. at St. Ignatius Church in Chestnut Hill, MA and enjoyed 42 years of marriage prior to his death in 1998.
She is survived by her children David F. (Maureen) Carroll of Newburyport, MA; Catherine A. (Leonard) Ceglarski of Byfield, MA; and Teresa J. (Andrew) Marhoffer of Scituate, MA. She leaves her much loved and admired grandchildren, Leonard (Kaitlyn), Gregory (Kerry-Kate) and John Ceglarski; Matthew (Lauren), Hannah and Erin Carroll; Grace (Will) Rafferty, Gabrielle, Thomas, Audrey, and Nora Marhoffer. Additionally, she leaves her much adored great grandson Leonard IV. She also leaves her niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Mildred Del Rios, Reverend John Kinnier, SJ, and Edmund Kinnier.
Katherine grew up on Lake Street in the shadows of Boston College where she would later meet her husband while they both attended graduate school there. She maintained her connections to BC by way of her children, in-laws, and grandchildren. She was also a proud graduate of Emmanuel College.
Katherine was a sixty-year communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Marblehead. She started her work career as a youngster making deliveries on her bicycle from the family pharmacy. While raising her children she also, for many years, was employed as a social worker at local area nursing homes, The Lafayette and The Jesmond. She traveled widely with friends and family. She was a talented artist and a member of Swampscott Arts Association. She was given the gift of a long and healthy life spent with her family and friends. Her family brought her great joy, laughter, and comfort, and she had a special bond with each one of them.
Mrs. Carroll's visiting hours will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Corner of North St., Salem on Sunday August 1, 2021 from 2p.m. to 5 p.m. Her funeral will be held on Monday August 2, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead, MA 01945. Burial following at St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
