Julius Gergely, age 65, husband of the late Cecile (Claffey) Gergely, died unexpectedly in Union Hospital, Sunday morning January 10, 2010.
He was born in Budapest, Hungry, had emigrated to Lynn as a teenager and was a cook at Union Hospital. Later Mr. Gergely became employed General Electric in Lynn for many years until his retirement.
Mr. Gergely enjoyed fixing bicycles, hiking Lynn Woods and most of all he loved taking care of his grandchildren.
He is survived by three children John Hudson, Erica Gergely and Leah Gergely all of Lynn; a brother Frank Gergely of MA; three sisters Anna Bagyra and Rozalia Daru both of Hungry and Yolanda Melton of MA; five grandchildren Ashley, Tiana, Albert, Julius, and Kayla and many nieces an nephews.
He was predeceased by a son James Hudson.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North ST, Rte 114) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visitation will be immediately before the funeral on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 12 Noon. Interment will be private.
