IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith Lee
Veinot
August 16, 1945 – August 3, 2025
Judith L. Veinot, 79, of Salem, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Salem Hospital, from complications suffered after a fall at her home.
Born on August 16, 1945,
Judy was raised and educated in Lynn, before moving to Salem during her high school years.
She spent her entire adult life working as a waitress at area restaurants, including 17 years at the Lyceum Restaurant, and 32 years at the Hawthorne Hotel. This was a career she absolutely loved, as it afforded her the opportunity to meet new and interesting people on a daily basis. Judy loved her customers and was frequently asked for by name, especially by the many "regulars," who became more like friends over the years. She would go out of her way to make every person seated at her tables feel pampered and special throughout their dining experience. Judy waitressed well into her 70's, stopping only when COVID hit.
In her free time, she loved to read the newspaper and do crossword puzzles, shop and go for lunch at the Anchor, cook amazing meals, (especially her potato pancakes!) for her family and friends, sit on a bench at Salem Willows and Winter Island, to watch the people and the boats pass by, play bingo on Tuesday nights with her many friends, and sit outside on her patio and converse with her neighbors. Most important to Judy, though, was the time she spent with her family. She loved each of them with every fiber of her being, and she never stopped trying to find ways to let them know how special and important they were to her. Our hearts are broken by the void she has left behind, but we take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with family and friends who have passed before her, and with God, whom she devoutly believed in.
Judy was predeceased by her beloved mother Leona Klinot, and her sisters Carol Veader and Jean McManus. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Chase, and her husband, Michael of Haverhill, MA, grandson Michael Chase, his wife Emily, and their daughter Mira of Rochester, NH, granddaughter Julianne Chase, her partner, Angel Delaroca, and their sons Lorenzo and Christian of Haverhill, grandson Ryan Alaboudi and his partner Kira Malenchini of Manchester, NH, grandson, Sgt. Adam Alaboudi, USMC, and his wife Brenna of Indianapolis, IN, and granddaughter Noelle Alaboudi of Haverhill; nephews Rene and Tony Vibert, and Joseph Veader, and nieces Sherri Mitton and Lisa Vibert; her Lyceum, Hawthorne Hotel and Pioneer Terrace families, and the countless, wonderful friends she has made over the years.
Judy was a long-time supporter of many charities, so please consider a donation in her name to the one of your choice.
