Joyce M. (Andrews) Famico, age 64, life partner of Stephen Champaigne, a breast cancer survivor, died early Saturday morning in the Kaplan Family Hospice House Danvers following a brief diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Her family is extremely appreciative of the support and love for her friends and the staff of the Kaplan Family Hospice House.


The daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Murray) Andrews, Joyce was raised and educated in Saugus and Lynn, graduating from Peabody High School in the class of 1964. Everything that Joyce did in her life focused on her family and friends. Her professional life as a waitress at the Wardhurst in Peabody, for years, and later as a Phlebotomist at North Shore Medical Center inSalem was no different, she loved people. Her love of people combined with a magnetic personality and wonderful sense of humor generally made those she served, instant friends. More recently she managed the off site lab for North Shore Medical Center at the former Mary A. Alley Hospital in Marblehead until being diagnosed with her cancer in November.


Joyce loved the holidays, decorating her home and entertaining. Going to "camp" was always a great time. She was also great to her many pets.


She is also survived by a daughter Lauren Helen Famico and a granddaughter Keri Marie Famico who lived with Joyce; a sister Gail LeBlanc of Lynn; two brothers Harold Chadwell Andrews of Tuftonboro, NH and Ron Andrews of Salem and many nieces and nephews.


Her funeral service will be held on FRIDAY, June 4, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by interment services at RiversideCemetery in Saugus. Her visiting hours will be on WEDNESDAY from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
