Josephine M. (Montemagno) Ciulla, age 83, wife of the late Anthony Ciulla, died Wednesday evening in the Devereux House Nursing Home, Marblehead surrounded by her loving family.

Born in East Boston, the daughter of the late Guy and Rose ( Sclafani) Montemagno she was raised and Medford….

educated in Everett. Following her graduation from high school where she was trained as a seamstress, Mrs. Ciulla became employed in Boston's fashion industry for several years until marrying her late husband.

A stay at home mom while raising her family, Mrs. Ciulla later became employed in the kitchen at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was employed for over 25 years by the hospital until retiring as the Head Dietician and Dietary Supervisor of the Hospital until her retirement.

At home she was known by her family and friends for her magnificent flower gardens and vegetables.

She is survived by two daughters Rosemarie McGrath and Pamela Ciulla both of Salem; two brothers James Montemagno of Naples, FL and Edward Montemagno of Merrimac, NH; four grandchildren Rosemarie, Harry, Robert, and Jason; three great grandchildren Dylan, Aidan and Peyton and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter Katherine Massaro; a brother Joseph Montemagno and a sister Rosemarie Vallatini.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday March 7, at 8:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 A.M. in St. James Church, 161 Federal St., Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Friday (today) from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
