Joseph "Joe"Tracy, age 66, husband of Nancy (Turner) Tracy, passed away Wednesday Nov. 25 after an ongoing illness. Joe was the son of the late Joseph H. and Eleanor (Crooker) Tracy, he was raised and educated in Salem, graduating from Salem High in 1967. He then attended North Shore Community College and Framingham State where he earned a BS in Elementary Education.
After graduating Joe worked as the Director of the Boys Club in Revere. He then worked in sales and sold handicap access equipment and later fire safety equipment for Keane Fire Safety until becoming ill.
Joe was a proud member and former president of The Salem Lions Club and a member of the Jaycees. He loved coaching youth sports including soccer and softball. He also enjoyed participating in a variety of charity works including working as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army during many holiday seasons.
In addition to his loving wife of forty years, Joe is survived by his daughter Katherine (Tracy) Jensen and husband Dane of Salem, his son Joseph "Jay" Tracy and Kelly Meehan of Lynn, his grandchildren Noah Wyrocki and Joseph "JoJoe" Tracy, his brother Jim and wife Kathy Tracy of Danvers, his brothers-in-law Tony Benevento and Jamie Turner and his wife Sue, his Sister-in-law Dottie Tracy and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Tracy and sister-in-law Susan Benevento.
His Memorial Service will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home 85 Federal St. (cor. of North St.), Salem on Monday November 30 at 10AM.
