Joseph "Joe" William Tarnowski, 90, a lifelong resident of Salem, MA passed away suddenly on February 13, 2023 at Salem Hospital. Born in Salem on April 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Helen (Mozikus) and Joseph Tarnowski. He resided with his four sisters Helen, Alice, Sophie, and Linda. Joe was married to his beloved wife Barbara "Eskie" (Charland) for 70 years.
Joe is also survived by his children: Susan and her husband Frankie Cunha of Groveland, MA, Bonny Hebert of Killington, VT, and his loving son Scott Tarnowski and his wife Jeanne of Beverly, MA; his grandsons Adam Cunha and his partner Christine Thomas of Lebanon, ME, Christopher Cunha and his wife Jessica of Torrance, CA, Jake Tarnowski of Beverly, MA, and his granddaughter Tanya Tarnowski and her partner Justin Shepard of Peabody, MA; his great grandchildren Amelia Cunha, Charlotte "Charlie" Cunha, and Weston Cunha.
As a young man, Joe served in the United States Marine Corps. He remained patriotic throughout his lifetime by generously supporting wounded veterans. Joe was a master electrician and a proud member of the I.B.E.W. Local 103 Union for over 60 years. Joe supported various animal charities as a great animal lover and was devoted to his golden retriever, Katie.
Joe was his own man who did things his way, all the while loyal in his pride and devotion to his family.
Visiting hours will take place on Monday February 20, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, located at 85 Federal St. Salem. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Murphy Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 226 North St. Salem.
