Obituary

Salem……

Joseph A. Hubbard, age 90 husband of the late Patricia J. (Aulson) Hubbard, with whom he had shared 38 years of marriage, died on December 12, 2012 in Gardner, MA.

Born in Boston the son of the late Arthur T. and Delia E. (Eaton) Hubbard, he was raised and educated in Dorchester where he attended local schools. Joseph joined the United States Army Air Corps at the age of 21. During his military service he was an Airplane Instrument Mechanic for the 14th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron.

Following his discharge, Mr. Hubbard worked at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard and Watertown Arsenal retiring after 25 years of service.

His true passion throughout his life was his family and doing all he could with and for them. He loved jazz music, bowling, dancing, playing cards and cribbage. In retirement he discovered many avocations including golf. He and his wife moved to Del Tura, in Fort Myers, Florida, and made many new friends. Mr. Hubbard focused on his golf game and was able to earn his bragging rights to a hole in 1.

He is survived by five children, Robert and his wife Lisa Hubbard and Michael and his wife Karen Hubbard of Beverly, Daniel Hubbard of North Andover, R. Kathryn Hubbard of Newburyport, and Kevin and Robin Hubbard of Groveland; a sister Agnes Fortier of Natick; nine grandchildren, Brian and his wife Amy, Jaclyn, Ashley, Zachary, Sam, Jenny, Jack, Hannah and Camren; one great grandchild Colton, and many nieces and nephews. Also remembered fondly by Beverly Krueger.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Tom and two sisters Marion and Frances.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:30AM.in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St (cor of North St) Salem. His Funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. from the Funeral Home to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Marblehead.
