José Correia Jr. 79, of Salem Massachusetts passed away on December 28, 2022, from natural causes.
On January 25, 1943, he was born in Vilarinho do Alva, Portugal. In 1970, José immigrated to the United States of America. José was a big soccer fan, especially for his favorite team- Sporting!

In his younger years, he loved spending time outside, fishing and hunting with his friends. He looked forward to his annual summer trip to Portugal with his loving wife, Lidia, whom he shared 58 years of marriage with. José was incredibly loved by his family and friends. He had such a wonderful personality, and a beautiful soul. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. A truly gentle, kindhearted, caring, and compassionate man. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to his two granddaughters, in which he helped to raise.

José is survived by his wife Lidia Correia, his daughter Cristina Romano and her husband Armindo Romano, his granddaughter Vanessa Cruz, and her husband Manny Cruz, his granddaughter Monica Romano, and her fiancé Bradley Bohannon, also José's precious great-granddaughter Ivy Cruz. José will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends each passing day. May he rest in eternal peace.

Services will be held on Thursday January 5, 2023 at Murphy's Funeral Home located at 85 Federal Street Salem, MA. Hours of visitation will be from 10:00am-12:00pm, followed immediately by the burial service at St. Mary's cemetery on North Street in Salem.
