Salem
John P. McLaughlin, age 65, of Salem died in the Cape Cod Nursing Home, Thursday evening.
Born in Flushing, NY the son of the late Leonard and Frances (Ward) McLaughlin he was graduated from Calvert High School, Prince Frederick, Maryland and settled in Salem. For many years he was employed in Boston's restaurant industry as a Maitre d', Bartender and Waiter for restaurants including Pier 4 and Borachi's.
An animal lover he enjoyed caring for his cat "Mittens" for several years. Mr. McLaughlin's family also wishes to thank the staff of both Market Basket and the SalemFive Bank for their friendship to Mr. McLaughlin over the years.
He is survived by a sister Mary Ann and her husband Joseph Adams of Wareham, MA and four nieces and nephews Monica Dexter, Thomas Harrigan, Christopher Carchia, and Stacey Adams and several great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a nephew John Harrigan.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 10:00 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North ST) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 P.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem.
