John B. Mahoney, age 62, husband of Mary G. (Kelly) Mahoney of Salem died Tuesday December 30 in Salem Hospital.
Born in Lynn the son of the late James A. and Claire (Byrne) Mahoney he was raised and educated in Marblehead. After completing his education, Mr. Mahoney served the United States Navy aboard both the U.S.S America and the U.S.S Kitty Hawk during the Viet Nam War.
Following his discharge, Mr. Mahoney became an agent with Eastern Airlines for over 25 years until his retirement. He was an avid photographer and was known especially for his portraits and marine photography.
Mr. Mahoney is survived by a daughter Kelly Mahoney of Lynn, a brother James Mahoney with whom he resided; a sister Maryanne Mahoney of Houston Texas and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 3 at 11:00 A.M. in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, (cor of North St) Salem. Visiting hours will be immediately before the funeral from 10AM to 11A.M. Interment will be private.
