Obituary

Marblehead……

John K. Kirn, Sr. age 90, husband of the late Nanette (Chidsey) Kirn of Marblehead, more recently of Exeter, NH died in Salem Hospital Thursday evening.

One of five children, he was born in Claremont, NH the son of the late William and Clara (Ewing) Kirn. After completing his education, Mr. Kirn served in the United States Army and was stationed in the European Theater of operations during World War II. Following his discharge, he became a manufacturer's representative for many years and later owned and operated Kirn Gasket and Seal until his retirement.

A lifetime member of the former Marblehead Elks, Mr. Kirn was very active in local youth sports. Locally he was one of the founders of Marblehead Midget Football and was also active in Marblehead Little League for years. An avid Boston sports fan, he enjoyed golf as well as boating at Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire.

Mr. Kirn is survived by a son John K. Kirn, Jr. and his wife Judithanne of Exeter, NH; a daughter Carol Borowski and her husband Robert of Salem; five grandchildren James Borowski, Mark Borowski, Suzanne Rivers, Michelle Riggie and Jennifer Kirn; 11 great grandchildren.

Private funeral services are under the direction of the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem.
