John P. Stevens "Jack", 68 years old, longtime resident of Lynn, moved more recently to his dream house in the woods of Wolfeboro, N.H., died on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 after a long, courageous battle with heart disease in the company of his loving and caring wife Judi.
Husband of Judi (McMath) Stevens, married for 35 years.
Born in Somerville, MA a longtime employee of the Polaroid Corp serving as managing engineer before his retirement in 1999. Much beloved by his family and friends, he will be missed dearly. He enjoyed camping with his family and was an amateur Civil War Historian.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Glenn P. Stevens and his wife Sheri of Woburn, Mark D. Stevens and his wife Kunthea of Georgetown; a daughter Karen A. Stevens of Pompano Beach, FL; proud grandfather of Jennifer, Megan, Kyle, Corinne, Tara, and Hannah. Brother of Bradford Stevens of Londonderry, NH and Carol Taylor of St. Petersburg, FL. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Earl Stevens and two sisters Constance Seiler and Barbara Dodge.
His funeral will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 2:15 P.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem to be followed by funeral Services at 3:00 P.M. in the First Church in Salem Unitarian, 316 Essex St., Salem, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
