John Gerard "Gerry" Field age 52 of Marblehead, died at home unexpectedly on Friday December 14.



Born in Salem the son of the late James A. and Mary (Shea) Field, he was raised and educated in Marblehead. He was graduated from Marblehead High School in the Class of 1974 and shortly after that became employed by the Eastern Yacht Club where he was employed for 24 years.



An avid reader he enjoyed fiction, history, science fiction, novels and National Geographic. He also loved to cook, was extremely social and enjoyed engaging family, friends and neighbors in great conversation. He liked caring for animals and could frequently be seen enjoying his walks around Marblehead.



Mr. Field is survived by two brothers Rev. James A. Field of Melrose and Martin Field and his wife Maura (Henry) Field of Marblehead with whom he resided and a family member, Cory.



His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:15 A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., Salem to be followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be Private.
