Joanne M. (Richard) Bellew, age 78, wife of the late John F. Bellew of Beverly and Dunedin, FL, died in the Mease Dunedin Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Salem the daughter of the late Raoul and Elsie (Sullivan) Richard, she was raised in Salem, educated at St. James Grammar School and graduated from St. James High School. She then worked for a brief time period in the insurance industry and Salem. She was later employed by the Commonwealth of MA Department of Public Welfare Boston Regional Office for over 30 years until retiring in 1990. A loving mother and wife she was dedicated to her family.

Mrs. Bellew is survived by a son John Bellew and his fiancée Christine Jones of Safety Harbor, Florida; a sister Jane Chalifour of Newburyport; two grandchildren Daniel and Ricky Erikson of Warwick, RI and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter Patricia Erikson and two brothers Raoul and Robert Richard.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 10:30A.M. from the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St., (cor of North St) Salem to be followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church on the Salem Peabody line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be immediately before the funeral, Tuesday, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M.
