Joanne W. Callahan, 89, died suddenly on April 3, 2018 at her home of 65 years in Marblehead surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Joseph J. (Jack) Callahan. Born and raised in Watertown MA, she was the daughter of the late Fred J. and Marantha P. Wright and sister of the late Fred and David Wright. Jody graduated Watertown High School and Katharine Gibbs School. She settled in Marblehead in 1954. Mom/Grammy/GG was the rock of her family and happiest when surrounded by her large loving family. She loved dinners on the Corinthian porch, Sunday brunch at her home and taking family trips to Disney and Turks & Caicos. She proudly attended all her children and grandchildren's events both big and small. She was an avid reader and a longtime member of Energy Works, the YMCA, a 40-year member of Bass River Tennis Club and an original participant of the Cliff Dwellers ski bus. Jody was a regular communicant of Our Lady Star of the Sea. She always thought of others first and her generous and loving spirit was a true testament to her strong Catholic faith.
Jody is survived by her children, Kevin Callahan, MD of Swampscott, Kendall Clark and her spouse William, Kristin Callahan and her spouse Jane Muller, Kyle Wiley and her spouse William of Marblehead, Karen Weeden and her spouse David of Peabody; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kelley and her spouse Sean, Anna Georges, Jesse and Emma Wiley, Katie and Abby Callahan-Muller, Zachary and Spencer Weeden; Kelsey, William and Mimi Clark; great-grandchildren Flynn and Maisie Joanne Kelley; sister-in-law Ellen Callahan, many nieces and nephews and many close friends and neighbors.

Visiting Hours are Sunday, April 22nd from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North St.) Salem, MA and Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 23 ^rd 11:00am at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave. Marblehead, MA.
