Obituary

Marblehead – Joan N. (Jackson) Ricardo-Gil, age 77 years, wife of the late Dr. Jose Ricardo-Gil, died early Monday morning June 11, 2018 at her home.  Born in Middleborough, she was the daughter of the late Robert V. and Mary (Allison) Jackson.  She was raised in Bridgewater and graduated from Regis College.  She continued her education and received her Masters and PhD from Boston College, where she met her husband.

Dr. Ricardo-Gil was a teacher in the Marblehead  Public Schools.  She taught Spanish, French and Latin at Marblehead High School for many years.  She retired in 2006 and continued teaching part time at the High School until 2013.

Dr. Ricardo-Gil was a very active communicant at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Marblehead, where she was a CCD Teacher, Lector and was a member of the Parish Council.  She loved her animals and stayed close with many of her former students.

She is survived by many cousins and was predeceased by her parents, husband, aunts and uncles.  She was a true and loyal friend and will be very deeply missed.

Her Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead, MA  01945 on Friday June 15, 2018 at 10:00 A.M.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  There are no visiting hours and burial will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St, Danvers, MA  01923 or to the charity of your choice.  For additional information or on line guest book please call 978-744-0497 or visit www.MurphyFuneralHome.com .
