Joan (Cuzner) Maude, age 77, wife of the late James W. "Jim" Maude of Marblehead died Saturday morning in the Lafayette Nursing home.
Born in Marblehead the daughter of the late Evelyn F. (Doherty) (Cuzner) Clay and the late Frederick H. Cuzner, she was raised and educated in Marblehead. Following her graduation from Marblehead High School, Mrs. Maude attended Los Angeles City College.
After a year in California she returned to Marblehead and became a telephone operator until marrying her late husband and beginning their family. A devoted wife and loving mother she enjoyed her family. She and her daughter both became accredited women's gymnastic judges in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and would travel as a team to judge many events together.
Mrs. Maude enjoyed summering on a lake in Westford MA with her family when her children were young. Later in life, Mrs. Maude enjoyed travelling to Australia to visit her daughter and her family. For nearly 20 years she and her husband lived in Plant City, FL. Following her husband's death she returned to Marblehead in 2004.
Mrs. Maude is survived by two children Scott and his wife Linda of Marblehead and Sarah Woolway and her husband Stephen of Melbourne, Australia; five grandchildren, Katie and Jamie Woolway of Melbourne Australia and Jared, Ashleigh and Ian Maude of Marblehead; three brothers Richard Cuzner and his wife Patricia of Marblehead, Robert Cuzner and his wife Sharon of Punta Gorda, FL and Bill Cuzner and his wife Judy of Marblehead and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister Sandra Lank of Indiana, and three grandchildren Jason, Caitlin and Kyle Maude all of Marblehead.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:00A.M., in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (corner of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Interment will be in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
