Jo Anne Borek, 84, of Swampscott, MA, passed away on February 15, 2018. She is survived by her husband, Gordon of sixty-four years, and sons William (Evelyn), James (Laureen), and Scott (Jill). Jo Anne was a devoted grandmother of twelve. She was preceded in death by her father Roland Reid, mother Helen Reid, sisters Judith Cassidy and Jane Whittier, and grandson Gordon R. Borek.

Jo Anne graduated from Swampscott High School in 1950 and from Katherine Gibbs School in 1951. She was active in local youth and charitable organizations, and held various local, state and national political positions. For many years she served as Trustee and Executive Director of the Amelia Peabody Charitable Fund. She also served as Trustee and the Director of the Ruby W. Linn Foundation.

In 1967 Jo Anne was named the Swampscott Woman of the Year by the Lynn Daily Item. In 1970 the Marblehead-Swampscott YMCA presented her with their Service to Youth Award.

A memorial service will be held on Friday February 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the The First Church, Congregational, located at 40 Monument Ave Swampscott, MA.
