Marblehead…….
Jeffrey P. Moore, MD age 92 of Marblehead died Tuesday afternoon at home. He and his wife , Barbara Carter, MD (also known as Barbara Carter Moore, MD) would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this fall.
Born and raised, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, the son of the late Paul H. and Amy (Labree) Moore, Dr. Moore received his Bachelor's Degree from Davidson College in Charlotte, North Carolina and his MD from the University of Louisville. Doctor Moore then did his residency at Charlotte Memorial Hospital and the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA. He then completed an internship at Charity Hospital.
Doctor Moore found his true medical passion, and soul mate during his radiology residency in Louisville, KY and was appointed to the Radiology Staff at Temple University Medical Center. While teaching at Temple, his wife, Barbara was in training in the radiology department and they met during her residency in 1954. Their life of a story book romance was born and their passion as radiology pioneers advanced medical technology. Proffessionally, he went on to service as Chief of Radiology at Roger Williams Hospital, served as a Clinical Professor at Brown University and late served as Chief of Diagnostic Radiology as well as a Clinical Professor of Radiology at New England Medical Center (now Tufts University).
His wife, Barbara Carter, MD pursued her career and helped to introduce computer tomography, MRI and the first body scan in Massachusetts. While he was diagnosing patients, she continued to teach imaging for ear, nose and throat specialties as well as for head and neck trauma.
In their personal life, Jeff ad enjoyed casual boating with his "folbaot" which they paddled together while courting. Eventually they added a sail and a new passion was born. They later purchased a ketch they named "Photon" in the Chesapeak Bay (referencing a bundle of light energy) which sailed to Marblehead and enjoyed for several years as members of the Boston Yacht Club and Eastern Yacht Club. The passion for travel was not limited to boating and over the years the doctors enjoyed wonderful trips which included several destinations including Europe, England, and South American.
Throughout their fantastic life together, Dr. Moore has been generous and a strong advocate of education.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two nieces and nephews, his late sister Emily Couch's children Sarah Hart of Bethesda, MD, and Jeffrey Couch of Charlotte, NC and his late brother, Benjamin Moore's children Christopher Moore of Boulder, CO and Marilyn Moore of CA.
