Obituary

BRUGH, Jeanni Marie (Darci) of Cedar Lake, IN died at age 69 on Saturday, April 20, 2019, in Crown Point, IN after a lengthy and brave battle with cancer.

She leaves behind her beloved daughter Sasha Nicole Brugh and grandson Declan, of Cedar Lake, IN; as well as her beloved son Kevin William Brugh of Austin, TX. They were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her four siblings: Caren Bussolari and husband Lenny Bussolari of Marblehead, MA, Joe Darci and wife Moe Darci of Marblehead, MA, Ginny Bogeajis and husband Mike Bogeajis of Lexington, SC and Tom Darci and wife Beth Maher of Oakland, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Sylvia Frances Penni Darci Wood and Rocco Joseph Darci.

Jeanni was born on October 25, 1949 to Sylvia and Rocky Darci in Marblehead, MA. She attended Star of the Sea School in Marblehead, Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, Academie Moderne in Boston, and The School of Fashion Design in Boston. She lived in California for several years before returning to Marblehead, eventually settling in Indiana, where she raised Sasha and Kevin.

Jeanni discovered a love of sewing and fabric, and applied to this her sense of fashion and design in the creation of her signature jewelry pouches, quilts and other fabric inventions. She was a craftsperson and an artist with needle and thread. Her compassion for children who were in crisis led her to create countless blankets and pillowcase/satchels that she donated to Child Protective Services in Logansport and Rochester, IN. She felt strongly that these kids needed something soft and comforting… as well as something to hold their things while in transition.

This saying hung in Jeanni's home where she could see it every day: "You've got 3 choices in life...give up, give in or give it all you've got." Jeanni chose option three, and she dug in, fought hard, and retained her sense of humor and optimism throughout, despite ongoing physical challenges. She greatly appreciated the medical professionals she interacted with, as well as the family and friends who were her steady support throughout.

The family wishes to thank the caring and skilled nurses, doctors and staffs of all the medical facilities that provided excellent care in and around Rochester and Cedar Lake, IN.
