Jeanne Connelly Ross of Marblehead died peacefully at home on Monday, February 18, 2013 surrounded by family and friends following a courageous battle with cancer. Throughout her illness she lived her life while engaging family, friends and all the world had to offer. She was the longtime beloved companion of retired Marblehead Firefighter, John Doane of Marblehead.
Born in Lynn, the daughter of the of the late Charles E. and and Dorothy (Horgan) Connelly , she was raised and educated in Swampscott. Also educated at the Vermont College for Girls, she worked in her family business, Connelly's Candies, for several years. She was last employed by the Town of Marblehead, retiring from the Selectman's Office.
Jeanne had a large circle of friends from her varied interests and enjoyed the Boston Yacht Club as well as her Bridge Club. She was proud of her grandchildren and was often seen in the stands of their activities and sporting events. She also enjoyed the company of her dog Fiona.
In addition to John, she is survived by two children, Julie Valenti and her husband Samuel of Danvers and Charles Quealy and his wife Jensine of Plainville, as well as five grandchildren, Andrew & Nicholas Valenti, and Kelsey, Matthew, & Maggie Quealy.
She was predeceased by two sons Michael and Matthew.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 10: 00 AM at the Church of the Holy Name, 60 Monument Avenue, Swampscott. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St, Salem 01970 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Interment will be in the Swampscott Cemtery.
