Javan D. "J.D." York, age 60, loving husband of Jo Ann (Gongas) York with whom he has shared 31 years, died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, Wednesday evening following a brief illness surrounded by his family.

Born at home in Zanesville, Ohio the son of Ruth (Triplett) York now of Ft. Myers, FL and the late Alfred York He was educated in Gloucester schools, became employed as a construction worker and was known as "Jack of All Trades" because of his many talents.

A dedicated Patriots and Red Sox fan, he enjoyed fishing with family and friends.
Family was at the center of his life, participating in as many of his daughter's and grandchildren's activities as possible. Mr. York was also his daughter Kerry's labor and delivery coach during the delivery of his first grandson. As his grandchildren grew, Mr. York enjoyed attending their baseball and football games. At least once a month he would participate in a family wrestling match with the kids. He also loved to cook anytime, for anyone and was "at home" whether he was in the kitchen or outdoors barbequing.

He was the life of the party, a great husband, father and the best Papa and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. York is survived by a daughter Kerry Broyer, C.N.A and her husband William of Beverly; five grandchildren Ryan (also his godson), Amber, Joseph, Dylan and Connor Broyer all of Beverly; two brothers Robert York of North Ft. Myers, FL and Alfred York of Gloucester; a sister Patricia Wells of South Dakota and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Sunday at 2:00 P.M in the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St.,(cor of North St) Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 4:00P.M to 8:00P.M. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are request to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
